Blog #5: Ethics

The trait I picked to focus on from the Character Counts pillars is responsibility. While all the pillars represent very important characteristics, I felt responsibility connects the best to the stage of my life I am in right now and also what I am trying to teach my first graders. Responsibility, I believe, is the most important because it is the trait you need in order to grow and mature. We learn different stages of it at different points in our lives. In my life, I am learning how to be more independent so that I will succeed in college next year. I am also teaching six year old's the importance of learning what responsibility is because it is a stepping stone to achieving all the other traits. I am taking responsibility by trying to set a good example for the kids because I learned from a responsible person who set an example for me to follow. Overall, I find this trait to be the most valuable due to its importance.

Blog 4: Goals

I achieved pretty much all of my first semester goals which I am very proud about. My goals I set were to get a 4.0 GPA, to get into my dream college, and to make new friendships in my last year of high school. So far I have managed to achieve all of those and I can not wait to move forward and accomplish more in my second semester. My goals for the rest of the school year would be continue to get straight A's, to improve my organizational and time management skills, and lastly just to enjoy these last few months I have left. My goals for 2017 would be to excel in college and to take advantage of all the new opportunities that college will present for me. I am looking forward to making this year successful and accomplishing all that I can.

Blog #3: How its going

My internship I have been doing for iQuest for the past three and a half months is teaching in a local first grade classroom. I have been working at Hidden Hills Elementary School. I have been learning how to communicate lesson plans to young children, assess their progression, and how to work with children better. I decided to choose this internship because I am interested in teaching and I love working with kids. There are so many positives that come along with this internship. Some positives would be that I get first hand experience teaching in a classroom and that I get to learn how to teach lessons and create learning plans for students. While there are many positives, there are also many hardships. First graders are not always the easiest to work with because it is harder for them to understand what I am trying to explain and they have a very short attention span. I have learned a lot about the teaching style I have and that I really enjoy helping people learn and grow. I am excited to see the students progression and my own progression throughout the rest of the school year.

Blog #2: Inspirational Person Research

The person I decided to research was Emma Watson. I choose to look less at her acting career and focus more on the charity work and organizations she works with. I found her interesting because she is one of the only teenager actresses who I grew up watching that went on to be an influential person in society. Instead of becoming consumed by her stardom, she has managed to stay humble. She fights to create gender equality and works with multiple charities to try to better the world. Watson is a very educated and intelligent person who cares about what is going on in the world and wants to make a difference. I have learned many new things about Emma Watson from this project.
She works with charities and causes such as disaster relief, gender equality, health, human rights, physical challenges, and woman's rights. She is also well known for her HeForShe campaign which promotes gender equality. Overall, Emma Watson is an inspirational role model because she fights for what she believes in and is an influential member in society.

Introduction to My Blog

My name is Hannah Leece and I am a senior at Dougherty Valley High School. This year I have decided to intern in a first grade classroom learning how to teach young kids criteria and experience teaching and what it requires. My hopes for senior year include expanding my interests and reaching out and meeting new people. I am planning to spend this year preparing for college, making the most of the time I have left, and saving money so I can travel over the Summer before leaving for college. I am very determined to make senior year my best year yet.
